Trained on our own sites
Labourers learn on our jobs, to the standard Mark and his grandad set between them. We do not pick up casual crews on the morning of a job, so the way your roof is built is the way we build every roof.
About Us
Harding & Co. is a family-run roofing firm based in Morden. Mark Harding started on the roofs with his grandad at thirteen, and the team he runs today carries more than 60 combined years of experience — so the roof over your house is built by people who have already built hundreds like it.
Our Story
Mark Harding learned the trade the old way — on site with his grandad, at thirteen years old, carrying tiles before he was allowed to lay them. That grandad had already spent a working life on roofs, and what he taught was not a sales patter. It was how to read a roof, how to make a joint watertight, and how to leave a job you would be happy to put your own name against.
Three generations later, that is still the business. Harding & Co. is nine people working out of 48 Buckfast Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5NB. Labourers are brought on and trained on our own sites rather than hired in by the day, because the only way to guarantee the standard is to teach it.
We work for homeowners who do not want to think about their roof again for twenty years, for buyers who need an honest read on a property before they commit, and for landlords and commercial clients who need a building kept watertight without drama.
Homeowners with a leak, a tired roof or a survey report they do not understand. Buyers who need a pre-purchase survey before exchanging. Landlords, letting agents and commercial clients who need a roof kept in service. If you own the building and the water is getting in, that is our work.
All pitched roof systems are covered except metal. Flat roofing runs to three-layer felt, EPDM, single ply and GRP fibreglass.
Morden is the yard, so Surrey and South London are a short run. We also travel across the South East for larger installations and commercial contracts.

Mission & Standards
Roofing is a trade where the customer cannot see most of the work. Our answer to that is simple: quote in writing, explain what we found, photograph what needs doing, stage the payments so you are never far out of pocket, and back the finished roof with a guarantee long enough to matter.
Labourers learn on our jobs, to the standard Mark and his grandad set between them. We do not pick up casual crews on the morning of a job, so the way your roof is built is the way we build every roof.
You get a written quote with the specification, the staged payment schedule and our insurance details before anyone climbs a ladder. On a new pitched roof, the first 30% falls due once the scaffolding is up, not before.
New pitched roof installations carry a 25-year guarantee. Flat roof installations carry a 15-year guarantee, plus the manufacturer-backed guarantee on the system itself, which we pass to you.
We trace a leak to what is actually causing it rather than patching the wet patch. That is slower on the day and cheaper over the life of the roof.

No certificate is issued for a spray foam removal — nobody in the trade can issue one. What we can tell you is that every removal we have carried out has been signed off by building control and surveyors without issue, which is what matters when you come to sell or remortgage.

Mark Harding
Owner
Mark started roofing with his grandad at thirteen. His grandad gave 69 years to the trade, and when he semi-retired Mark took on the contacts, the customers and the knowledge that came with them. Mark is 38 now, with 25 years of his own on the tools.
What he is proudest of is not the size of the business but how it has grown since he took the reins — and that every labourer is trained in-house. Nobody works on a Harding & Co. roof to a standard other than the one Mark set, and his grandad set before him.

Credentials & Trust
Plenty of roofers lean on logos. We would rather tell you exactly what stands behind the work, and be equally clear about what we have never claimed.

Held and in force. Details are provided with every quote.
Mark has 25 years on the tools himself, learned directly from a grandad who spent 69 years roofing. That knowledge did not get written down in a manual — it got handed over on site, job by job.
Labourers are brought on and trained on our own jobs to one standard. No day-rate crews picked up on the morning of a job, so the roof you get is built the way we build every roof.
There is no certificate issued in this trade for spray foam removal, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can say is that every removal we have carried out has been signed off by building control and independent surveyors with no issues raised.
We hold no LCA qualification. What we have is extensive hands-on experience dressing and welding lead to valleys, chimneys, parapets and bays — work we do most weeks of the year.
We are not a brand-approved installer for Firestone, Sika, IKO, Bauder or Garland. We are broadly experienced across three-layer felt, EPDM, single ply and GRP fibreglass, and we specify the system that suits your roof rather than the one we are tied to.
